Georgia Iannella appointed as Female Technical Director
We are excited to announce Georgia Iannella as the Female Technical Director for the upcoming 2025 season and beyond.
We recently sat down with Georgia to discuss her career to date as well how she will be working alongside our club members in her role.
Could you tell us a bit about your background and how your experience has prepared you for this role?
Despite my young age, I bring a wealth of experience to this role, having played soccer at a high level for 18 years. My playing career includes a season with Adelaide United in the 2016/17 season, as well as representing the U17 Junior Matildas in Vietnam during the World Cup Qualifiers. I was also involved in the State program for 10 years, which gave me invaluable exposure to high-performance environments and allowed me to understand the technical and tactical aspects of the game deeply.
Through these experiences, I’ve gained an understanding of the importance of building a positive and supportive environment for junior players, where they can develop not only their technical abilities but also their confidence and love for the game. I’m passionate about using my experience to guide the next generation of players, helping them unlock their potential both on and off the field.
How will you be working with the coaching staff to implement your strategies and recommendations?
As a junior soccer technical director, collaboration with the coaching staff is essential for implementing strategies and recommendations effectively. I will ensure clear communication so that all coaches understand our vision and objectives, working closely with them to develop plans tailored to the needs of their players and the team as a whole. By fostering a cohesive coaching philosophy centered on player development, teamwork, fun and performance, and through regular meetings and feedback, we’ll stay aligned on our goals. I’ll also provide resources, training, and guidance to help coaches deliver high-quality sessions that support our long-term development aims.
Do you have any specific goals for the upcoming season?
My main goals for the upcoming season are to continue developing and growing female football within the club. I’m committed to supporting and developing our coaches, providing them with the resources and guidance needed to help them grow and deliver high-quality sessions. I want to ensure that every player feels supported in their development, while also making sure that fun and passion for the game remain at the heart of our approach.
What message would you like to share with the club’s members about your new role?
I’m excited to take on this new role as junior soccer technical director and help develop and grow the club’s junior girls program. I’ve already seen the positive growth within the club, and I can’t wait to be a part of this journey. I look forward to working with everyone to ensure that our players and coaches continue to grow and succeed together.
Congratulations on your appointment Georgia, we are excited to see what 2025 brings.
