About

For 40+ years, we’ve been making our mark on South Australian soccer

Founded in 1980 under the name ‘VC Woodville City Junior Soccer Club’, we began with a complement of three junior teams.

Since then, we’ve grown to also field senior teams for both men and women—and have fostered a close-knit, passionate, and supportive community high on team spirit.

It’s been an incredible journey, one that started with our six founding members:

  • G Leonardi
  • J Carbone
  • M Mirabelli
  • P Corbo
  • A Manou
  • J Pellizari

It wasn’t until 1994 however that we fielded our first senior team—playing in the SA Amateur League. Then, in 1996, we managed to field two senior teams. Two years later, we fielded three.

Our entry into the State League coincided with our change of name to the Western Strikers Soccer Club, a reinvigorating change that was coupled by our move to Grange Reserve. Not too long after, in 2000, we moved to Carnegie Reserve where we remain to this day.

Having well and truly made our entrance in the State League, we made our way to the Premier League—almost making it into the Super League in 2007. It was only one year later, in 2008, that we clinched a spot in the Super League after a convincing win over South Adelaide 5-0.
